ProgressSoft, the leading innovator of imaging solutions, announced that their new version of the Electronic Delivery Run Sheet System, PS-eDRS 2.0, has been successfully running live as of Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Aramex, one of the world's leading providers of total transportation solutions. PS-eDRS 1.0 was specially tailored to address Aramex's need for a system that captures and manages courier documents; and now with new enhancements and upgrades to the system PS-eDRS 2.0 comes to form a further comprehensive solution that meets the needs of Aramex on a wider scale.
The move to deploy an electronic shipping documentation system is a continuation of Aramex's efforts to streamline its operations and offer enhanced customer service experience. Such scenario was actualized through ProgressSoft's sophisticated solution PS-eDRS. The primal idea of the system started with electronically availing shipping documents, from which signature and other information pertaining to the shipment are automatically extracted and imported to Aramex shipment tracking system.
The new version; however, provides enhanced quality for document scanning, more accuracy in reading the scanned documents and added to that, Version 2.0 provides image compression technology where documents can be compressed on customizable levels without jeopardizing the quality of the images.
PS-eDRS 2.0 also introduces file conversion along with the compression technology mentioned previously. Users are now capable of converting the documents to different types of formats of their choice such as JPEG, PDF and TIFF and compress them at the same time. This version has also been updated and running on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 instead of the old 2000 version while maintaining the data from the old database during the process of upgrading to the 2005 version of Microsoft SQL Server.
Another major feature added to the new version is the support of multi-page scanning, this way users are now capable of scanning multiple pages and labeling them as one document when ever they need to be retrieved instead of indexing each page separately. This helps in ease of retrieval and storage of the documents in groups.
It is worth mentioning that PS-eDRS 2.0 has an increased scanning accuracy where the number of corrupted scanning cases has slipped down radically to a seamless figure.
"we had a very positive experience 2 years ago with ProgressSoft and that experience continues now with the excellent services prior and post sales, ProgressSoft worked hand in hand with our employees to make sure that the PS-eDRS 2.0 is running properly and they were their whenever we needed to enquire about any detail. PS-eDRS 2.0 met all our needs and ProgressSoft was certainly the best to provide us with such a complete solution" noted Mr. Faris Fallouh - Manager of Ground Services at Aramex.
Facilitating their expertise in imaging technology, ProgressSoft developed PS-eDRS 2.0 by deploying an impressive array of image processing tools that were entirely in-house developed and the result of advanced research in image processing & capture technology where ProgressSoft excels. PS-eDRS 2.0 comprises accurate barcode capture and recognition functionalities, auto image enhancement tools and dynamic document template definition; not forgetting the robustness of PS-eDRS 2.0 while processing and reading documents in that it operates powerfully under high strain due to the huge number of processed documents each day.
